Brooks Lamb

Land Protection and Access Specialist, American Farmland Trust

Brooks Lamb is a conservationist and agrarian. He works on local, state, and national levels as the Land Protection and Access Specialist at American Farmland Trust. In this role, he raises public awareness of farmland loss and builds support for farmland protection, addresses issues around land access and transfer, leads efforts to help communities plan for agriculture, and supports heirs' property farmers. Beyond his work with AFT, Brooks is a writer. He is the author of Love for the Land: Lessons from Farmers Who Persist in Place (Yale Univ. Press, 2023) and numerous essays, articles, and poems. He also teaches a class – called “Agriculture, Society, and the Environment” – at Rhodes College. Brooks lives with his wife Regan in Memphis. He grew up on a small family farm in Marshall County and is still an active caretaker of that land.
