TN Local Food awarded CFMT Jumpstart Grant

TN Local Food has been awarded a $4,000 JumpStart Grant from Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee! These funds will be used to support the hiring of a Communications and Development Director, allowing us to better educate small farmers and consumers through workshops, networking activities, and increasing access to information and resources.

CFMT awarded more than $2.8 million in grants to 435 nonprofit organizations as part of the 2023 annual grantmaking process.

“Since transitioning from a volunteer-run event to a 501(c)3 less than two years ago, TN Local Food has grown significantly with only one hired staff person at part-time. We are hosting a variety of events throughout the year, managing a Farmer Relief Fund, and acting as a vital bridge building organization for the Tennessee food and farming community.

Hiring a Communications and Development Director will allow us to do even more to support initiatives for sustainability in agriculture and food systems that is becoming ever more essential. We are beyond grateful for CFMT’s support and will be working hard to raise the additional funds needed to maintain this essential new position.” – Natalie Ashker Seevers, Executive Director of TN Local Food

CFMT awards discretionary grants annually from its unrestricted and field-of-interest funds through an open application process to Middle Tennessee nonprofit organizations addressing community needs and benefiting the well-being of our community through valuable programs and innovative services.

Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee strives to build a more thriving and inclusive community — today and for generations to come —  by transforming thoughtful generosity into positive change. Please visit www.CFMT.org for more.
