2023 year in review
Over the last year TN Local Food experienced incredible growth and change while developing alignment and clarity about our organization’s next steps. We are proud of the many partnerships created and strengthened this year, the high-quality education provided to our community, and the incredible financial support we raised & distributed to farmers who are the backbone of our local food system. Here are a few of our 2023 achievements:
Raised and distributed over $22,000 to Tennessee farmers who’s farms & businesses were impacted by natural disasters
Hosted Ira Wallace of Southern Exposure Seed Exchange & Pam Dawling of Sustainable Market Farming for a workshop on saving seeds and growing food all year long
Hosted our second annual fundraising dinner at Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory raising over $9,000
Partnered with Patagonia Nashville to host a panel discussion about sustainable agriculture in Tennessee
Organized the 13th annual TN Local Food Summit at Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN, providing education and connection to over 225 people
Provided 26 scholarships to the annual summit
Offered our first marketing & communication paid-internship
Completed a 2024 strategic planning session facilitated by b.Renovo Consulting with the support of our funding partner Farmers Friend
Awarded a $4,000 JumpStart Grant from Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible partners, collaborators, sponsors and volunteers that come together to make this work happen. Cheers to another year growing the local food movement and building a more resilient regional foodshed.
