Building Community Engagement for Farm to School

Joel Tippens is the founding director of City Farms Grower Coalition and has been engaged in urban agriculture in Chattanooga since 2011. The work has consisted of a variety of different projects including schoolyard gardens, church gardens, community gardens, developing urban farms, and even touring the city with a vegetable garden in the bed of an old pickup truck. For the last three years City Farms has assisted in providing Environmental Studies students from UTC with hands-on service learning opportunities.
